Nerd news and musings

23 - News, the new Star Wars EU, and DC movies and TV

Allen is out of sick bay this week to complete the crew. We do the news as always with Star Wars, TMNT, del Toro rumors, and Funimation anime streaming. After the break, Bert's curious about where the new Star Wars Expanded Universe will go post Disney and somehow winds up discussing Episode VIII. Finally, we delve into the HUGE amount of DC media incoming. TV, movies, cartoons, comics, DC is blasting it all out to us this year. This episode pairs well with a well aged Romulan ale.

21 - The Force Awakens SPOILcast

It came. We saw. Not really sure who did the conquering. SPOILERS ABOUND in our roundtable discussion of Star Wars The Force Awakens. You've been warned. Henry Reed and Jim Stephens join Bert, Allen, and Jeff this week to run through a quick bit of news, a mini Collector's Corner with Henry, and then of course the main attraction.

We all loved TFA, so we took our time in discussing, what we liked, what we didn't (not much), theories, and where we think Episodes VIII and IX might go, and why some of us don't want every character to be related. Grab your lightsaber and join us for what might be our last episode of 2015! May the Schwartz be with you.

18 - Allen and Jeffe Take the News and Civil War Trailer

Bert was out of town for the weekend, so Allen and Jeff grabbed this week's geek news by the haunches and humped it into submission. DC television is the main news topic with Supergirl crossovers, Legends of Tomorrow speculation, and a possible Constantine revival in existing shows. After the break, the big news this week was the full trailer for Captain America 3: Civil War dropping its awesomeness on all our faces. Savor it.

17 - Allen Hosts! Arrow/Flash Talk, Jessica Jones, and BattleFront

Bert was under the weather this week, so Allen took the reins for main hosting duties and made it his bitch. News as always, then Allen and Jeff go over MAJOR SPOILERS for Flash and Arrow for the last few weeks. You've been warned. Bert binged through Jessica Jones Saturday and gives his impressions after finishing the series. (It's REALLY good.) Finally, Bert, Allen, and Jeff give their thoughts on Star Wars BattleFront that recently released. Bert and Allen have issuses with parts, though it is still an extremely fun, entertaining, and genuine Star Wars experience. This episode pairs well with Klingon blood wine.

16 - Video Game Extraviganza! Fallout 4, Tomb Raider 2, and Nintendo Direct

The week in news that you care about, followed by a HUGE week in video games. Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider both released this week. And we got the first Nintendo Direct since Iwata-san's passing. We talk about all the awesome games coming out, how we don't have time or money to play them all, then by the grace of the Force, somehow the conversation ends on Star Wars.

14 - Halloween Postmortem and Clone Wars Love

We hit some news, a bit of which was changed literally hours after we wrapped. Bert brings up that the Power Rangers' names in the new flick will be new names and personas, but news broke that the characters will in fact be the original Rangers from the first iteration of the show.

Jeff brings back some of our favorite Halloween memories, and finally Bert talks about how great the Clone Wars animated show was, despite how dismal the prequel trilogy was. Allen has seen the whole series, but Bert and Jeff are currently knees deep in season four.

Not brought up in the show because news just broke Monday, but needless to say Star Trek will be a major talking point next episode. Enjoy!

12 - Special Guest Jim! Fear Fest: Zombies, and First Comic Book Experiences

Jim is back as a guest! As always, we start things off with the week in nerdy news. Then in his third installment of October Fear Fest, Allen aims for the head and talks zombies. As is only fitting, our guest Jim got the rest of the episode to get the memory juices flowing and got us thinking about how and why we got into comics in the first place. 90s kids hold on to your butts, it's going to get real.

11 - October Fear Fest, New TV, and Battlefront Beta Impressions

As always, we hit the week's news, then dive into topics.

First up is Allen's October Fear Fest installment. This week scary video games were up to bat. After that, Jeff gives the rundown on all the awesome new TV seasons that are starting back up like Arrow, Flash, Agents of SHIELD, and Heroes Reborn. Finally, Bert gives his impressions on the massive Star Wars Battlefront beta that ran through the weekend. (It was awesome.)
